Biography

I grew up in acting in children's theater in Memphis TN. As a young adult  I                 studied theater in London and Switzerland, directed childern's theater professionally,             and earned a BA in Theatre Arts and Dramatic Literature from Brown University.

I took a break from theater for a career as a medical doctor, research scientist, and professor of psychiatry at three major universites -- work i continue.

These days I appear in juicy character roles with professional and semi-pro companies in the Portland area.

As a dramaturg, I help theater companies to create realistic portrayals of illness and medical treatment, as well as helping unlock characters's personalities.

My wife and I formed a theatre company Scuttlemagoon Players, which  produced my modern adaptation of School for Scandal in 2015, which I directed.
